HOW TO REACH THAXTED

Thaxted is located in northwest Essex between the market town of Saffron Walden and the ancient flitch town of Great Dunmow. 

Arriving by car:
Visitors with Sat Nav can use the Margaret Street Car Park as their destination using the post code CM6 2QN

Parking in Thaxted.
There is some on-street parking, with various restrictions.
Margaret Street Car Park is owned by Uttlesford District Council, is free to park and is the site of the Public Toilets.

Also in Thaxted there are Parish Council owned car parks. These are also free and are in Park Street, opposite the Baptist Church. The Bolford Street Hall car park at the hall in Bolford Street. At the Recreation Ground on Newbiggen Street on the road to Saffron Walden.

From London & The South:
Thaxted is best reached via the M11 motorway.  Leave at junction 8 (Stansted Airport) and follow the A120 towards Colchester.  After passing Stansted Airport, leave the A120 at Great Dunmow (B184) and follow the signs for Thaxted.

Thaxted is about 45 miles north of London.

From Cambridge & The North:
Thaxted is best reached via the M11 motorway.  Leave at junction 10 (Duxford) and follow the A505 to the B184.  As you enter Saffron Walden turn left on the B184/George Street.  Turn right at the B184/Thaxted Road and continue 7 miles to Thaxted.

Thaxted is about 25 miles south of Cambridge.
