Thaxted Morris Ring Meeting 29th May - 31st May Thaxted and surrounding villages. The response amongst those wishing to take part in our special meeting has been phenomenal resulting in some 400 dancers and musicians wishing to take part, double the normal number, which contradicts claims in the 200 anniversary year of Darwin’s birth that Morris Dancing is heading for extinction. This has necessitated doubling the number of Saturday tours out to the surrounding villages from four to eight and starting the first evening show in Thaxted earlier and ending the second show 30 minutes later at around 11:00pm. Many sides not normally seen in Thaxted will be taking part and as this will be the most northerly and four times the size of the other Morris Ring Meetings held in the country this year expectations are running high, especially amongst the northern sides. Timetable in Thaxted - Saturday 30th May 9.30am Eight tours of surrounding villages. Details of the eight tours are included in the Ring Meeting booklet. This booklet, price 50p, details the weekend. They are at present available from Saffron Walden TIC, Dunmow TIC, Thaxted CIC and local shops in Thaxted.
